Momen inaugurated the 'e-Quality Center for Inclusive Innovation' at the UN
Headquarters at a side event of the 78th session of the UN General Assembly. He
inaugurated it on Monday (September 25).The side event titled 'Imagining
a Digital Discrimination Free World' through 'E-Quality Center for Inclusive
Innovation' was jointly organized by Ministry of External Affairs and A2I.
Ministers and senior officials of The Gambia, Uganda, Ghana, Somalia, Sao Tome
and Principe, senior officials of the United Nations Secretariat, the Permanent
Mission of Bangladesh to the United Nations and senior officials of ATUI were
present at the inauguration ceremony.The main objective of the
e-Quality Center is to bridge the global technological divide through
South-South cooperation. This center, established by the Government of
Bangladesh, will conduct activities to eliminate the technological gap between
the countries of the world through the best use of latest technology, research
and innovation. Its mission is to build an equitable digital future through
global technology transfer, research and financial support.In his speech, the Foreign
Minister highlighted the development of Bangladesh's digital system, inclusive
growth and the journey of transition from Digital Bangladesh to Smart
Bangladesh. He emphasized on the need for technology transfer in developing
countries, cooperation between countries, technological excellence of people at
all levels of society and elimination of digital divide. He also mentioned that
the Ministry of Foreign Affairs is conducting necessary innovative activities
to ensure international cooperation in the field of technology through ICT and
International Trade, Investment and Technology Division. Through which it will
be possible to implement the digital vision of Bangladesh government.Technical and practical aspects
of e-Quality Center were presented in the event. Senior officials of various
countries present and representatives of various United Nations agencies
presented their views on this initiative. They emphasized the inclusive
distribution of technology, cooperation between developed and developing
countries, and the challenges of the new digital reality. They expressed hope
that e-quality center will play an effective role in this regard. On this
occasion, the Foreign Minister distributed awards to the winning projects of
the International ICT Innovation Facility.ICT State Minister Junaid Ahmed
Palak delivered the closing speech at the event. Another online session was
organized with the participation of members of various organizations in the
United Kingdom in line with the opening ceremony held at the United Nations
Headquarters. Director General of ICT and International Trade, Investment and
Technology Division of Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Syed Muntasir Mamun and
other officials participated in the session. The side events and the opening
ceremony were successfully concluded with the participation of a significant
number of members from home and abroad.
